Nedurumalli Balakrishna Reddy Science and Arts College was founded by late Padmasri Nedurumalli Bala Krishna Reddy, a visionary and Philanthropist with a great missionary mind in the year 1965 under the banner of Harijana Vidyardhi Uddaraka Sangham to uplift the downtrodden. The college has been an Aided Institution since inception. Being located on the shore of Swarnamukhi river a serene, in an ideal, rural and natural setting with the famous Swarnamukhi River and sacred hill as its background, covered by mortorable transport communication facilities with a wide expansion of land, the place is named Vidyanagar, a place of learning, dedicated to distinctive educational environment that enables young persons to grow not only in intellectual capacities, but also in other dimensions of their personalities.
During the past 54 years, the Institution has recorded a multidimensional development in infrastructure and other facilities in view of the fast changing educational and economic scenario throughout the world. Having set-up impressive infrastructure facilities and availing the services of a dynamic and competent faculty, the College has reached a stage of consolidation and is poised for qualitative growth, research contribution, autonomy, curricular innovations and community and industrial interactions which enable it to become a Resource Center by offering a variety of need based programmes and updating programmes in areas of its interest. Our aim is that NBKR. Science & Arts College should grow as one of the great centers for quality education and occupies a place of pride of the Nation.
The College is affiliated to Vikrama Simhapuri University, Nellore and enjoying the status of 2(f) and 12(B) sections of UGC Act since 1972. The college was accredited by NAAC with B++ grade in the year 2007 during first cycle and re-accredited by B Grade with CGPA of 2.77 in the year 2013. The College with potential for excellence status was granted for two years by UGC in the year 2010. The college has been placed in the rank band of 151-200 by NIRF, MHRD for the year 2017. The college has been selected one among 35 colleges in Andhra Pradesh state for financial assistance under RUSA 2.0 in the year 2018. Obviously the above two achievements can be viewed as the milestones of the effective functioning of the college for the past five years.
The college has been serving the society through value-based quality education for the past 54 years and became a brand for socially and economically weaker sections in society.
